GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Performs instructional duties, to high school students enrolled in the Dental Assistant curriculum provided by CATEC to area high schools. Central to the program is the management and conduct of a classroom and practical laboratory for teaching the related skills to high school students.
Candidate must have a license by the Virginia Board of Dentistry as a Dental Assistant and two years of occupational experience in the endorsement area. Candidates must hold, be eligible for, or be willing to obtain a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Technical Professional licensure with endorsement in applicable subject area. Experience should include varied responsibilities, such as direct client care, supervision, and education.
In addition, to be qualified to teach this course as dual-enrolled, the requirements are:
A Bachelor’s degree. Two years of current occupational experience in dental assisting to include the placement and exposure of conventional and digital images. Must have current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential or eligible to sit and pass the Dental Assisting National Board exam within the first semester of teaching.
